Why My Vagina Speaks.

As children, we heard the saying “A child should be seen and not heard”. Yet this was not just a childhood expectation but also one bestowed upon women. A woman’s world through history is the construction of societal views and expectations in a world powered by men. As those views changed so did the definition of what a woman was, could be and would become.

Although we live in a modern-day world we are still battling against a bias of outdated views. As we fight for equality but most of all the opportunity to be seen and heard. As women, we have to live to a certain standard. Often we are degraded through conversations amongst men and the entitlement the male gender feels they have to a females anatomy. Frankly, I grew tired and I know many women are tired of being a vagina and nothing more. A vagina that has no voice is not opinionated, emotional, hormonal. A vagina that dares not step into the cooperate world and claim a seat at the table as a CEO of fortune 500 company. With this notion, this aggravation was the birth of “My Vagina speaks”. It humoured me as the thought captured the forefront of my mind. “Everyone loves a good vagina but no one wants to hear about the tales it has to tell”. Until now! This platform is created for all types of vaginas. Whether your hairy or bald, thick or thin, tight or saggy. We love you all. Its time for when your vagina speaks to command someone to stop and listen.

A community that is governed by its own standards based on the individuality of each unique experience. The values of being broken and knowing its OK. As you struggle to smile through the pain of a miscarriage or rejoice in the success of an adoption. As you mourn the beauty that was once your youth gracing the burden of time as you age. From our days as little girls playing with dolls or even scuffling around trying to get the boys to allow us to play cops and robbers. As we cherish where we are and embrace where we’ve been. We stand in all we are knowing that our vaginas possess the universe. Birthing nations and raising boys into men, who feel empowered only to forget the love we instilled in them is the power they possess.

Welcome to My vagina speaks a place where we redefine the power of a woman’s voice. Through their stroy, their voice and their choice.
